We encourage all students to take basic precautions during this flu season to decrease the spread of all viruses and to take appropriate action should they exhibit any flu symptoms (runny nose, headache, cough, sore throat, fever, difficulty breathing). Those who become sick should contact a health care provider immediately. Additionally, we recommend the following preventive hygiene measures: o Avoid close contact with people who are sick. o Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth. o Stay home when you are sick. o Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash. o Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe. o Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing. o If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are dirty.
